I am pleased to report that our POW/MIA Bring Them Home
Golf Tournament was a great success! Additionally, we were honored to have our National Commander-in-Chief
Cory Geisler present for both the Golf Tournament and our Fall Council of
Administration. He even played a role in
our POW/MIA themed mystery dinner! Thank You to all whom participated and/or
sponsored!
This is a very hectic time of year, Big Ten Meeting,
National Home Trip, Veterans Day activities and numerous fall events. What a great time of year to promote our
organization and serve Veterans, their families and the communities.
Please continue with all the great community activities and
continue to create awareness of our Missing in Action as we continue our
project of collecting donations to assist in funding our brothers and sisters
in arms recoveries, identification and return to their families.
Work towards earning our new Early Bird 100% membership
recognition! Posts that are 100% and have four Legislative Events recorded in
dashboard by December 31st will receive unique Early Bird Pins, Flag
Streamer and entry into the raffle to attend our Legislative Trip to Washington
D.C. There are also incentives for
District Early Bird and other recruiting awards available – refer to the
2026-2027 District/Post Commander & Quartermaster Handbook.
I’m looking forward to the Winter Council of Administration
and to meeting our Voice of Democracy, Patriot Pen winners and Teachers at the
banquet. Please join us!

Veterans of Foreign Wars
Our programs support our service members while they are on the front line, as they are being discharged and long after they return. Your donation will be immediately directed to the VFW programs where your support is most urgently needed.
Missouri sponsors two cottages at the National Home. We have an annual trip scheduled in October and sponsor the Halloween Party for the children.
The National Home has published it's 2023-24 Fund Raising Program. Please give what you can. Missouri currently sponsors 2 cottages at the Home.
A Veteran Service Officer (VSO) helps veterans, and their families navigate the complex process of applying for benefits and services from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). They assist with filing claims for disability compensation, pensions, healthcare, education benefits, and other services. VSOs also help veterans gather necessary documentation, ensure claims are properly submitted, and guide them through appeals if their claims are denied. VSO's act as advocates, making sure veterans get the benefits they are entitled to.

The Department of Missouri Website is a living document dedicated to Missouri Veterans. The site is for the dissemination of news, information and ideas to the membership. With that said, we are asking members to share their activities and stories with us to pass along. We are wanting committee chairpersons to share what they are doing on a more regular basis. Receiving updates quarterly at the COA convention is fine, but it does not reflect current activities. We would like to publish a Newsletter at least Monthly to keep the membership in tune with the latest happenings. In addition, we know that several members were taking pictures at the COA. We would love to have you share them with us to post on the Department Gallery. All you need to do is email them to us with a description and we will do the rest.

DEPARTMENT FOOD PANTRY
The Department hosts the Mid-Mo Military Family Pantry at our Department Headquarters, 3401 Knipp Drive, Jefferson City, MO. The Pantry is open on Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. However, if a veteran or his family is in immediate need, they can call the Department office at 573-636-8761 for assistance. We will do accept cold food donations.

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam. He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years. He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country". The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.
