Paint for a Cause Fund Raiser

Commander, this is Fred Carroll, Commander at Chaffee Post 3127. I have attached a link to a project that we have hosted an event for. It’s a mural that is gonna be placed at the Stars and Stripes museum in Bloomfield next to the cemetery. The artist is a member of our post. This is a fairly big project that our little town is not capable to fulfill it 100%. Aaron and his assistant Barb are willing to travel and go to different parts of the state to accomplish. What they possibly would need is a post to host a location and help advertise for them in different areas of the state. This project is to help honor veterans, there will be a journal attached to the painting that contains information about you and the person you are paining for. There is a cost of $2.00 per triangle. Very minimal cost!

Scouting

Some of our earliest ties to the community involve youth groups and perhaps none are stronger or more lasting than the relationship between the VFW and America's scouting organizations. In fact, our partnership with the Boy Scouts of America dates back to 1915 when VFW Post 2100 helped to establish Troop 1 in Everett, Washington. Our Scout of the Year program provides members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to be recognized for their standout citizenship, patriotism and love of country.

Once again our department email accounts are being hit with spam and phishing emails asking you to verify your email address or password, etc.  Please understand that the department will never ask for this action to be done.  There is not expiration on department email accounts and as for passwords the Webmaster and Assistant Webmaster have everyone's passwords if you don't know what yours is.  With that said, DO NOT EVER RESPOND TO THOSE EMAILS. Black list them and then delete them.
 
Next issue that has been reported has to do with reports.  When you enter a report and submit it you expect to receive a confirmation email.  In several cases this may or may not happen.  We are still experiencing email issues with the servers from Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and Outlook.  They are blocking or slowing responses.  Always check your spam or junk mail folders for responses.  If you don't get see a response right away, do not keep resubmitting the report.  It has probably been submitted.  If you have a question regarding the submission contact the webmaster or assistant webmaster to check it for you.  To alleviate this issue, instead of entering your personal email address, use the post email address in the report form.  That will insure you get your responses as well as giving the post a record of the submission.  If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Department Chaplain's Zoom Meeting

Chaplain's Zoom Training will resume in September 2024 on the third Thursday of the month and run through May 2025.  To get the Zoom address for the class and other Chaplain updates, please email peterhook@verizon.net and ask to be put on the Chaplain's Newsletter email list.  This email, which is sent out monthly prior to the training, will contain the current Zoom address to sign in to the class.  You can also email Missouri State Chaplain Debb Halter at chaplain@movfw.org to be put on the list.

Editorial from the Webmasters


The Department of Missouri Website is a living document dedicated to Missouri Veterans.  The site is for the dissemination of news, information and ideas to the membership.  With that said, we are asking members to share their activities and stories with us to pass along.  We are wanting committee chairpersons to share what they are doing on a more regular basis.  Receiving updates quarterly at the COA convention is fine, but it does not reflect current activities.  We would like to publish a Newsletter at least Monthly to keep the membership in tune with the latest happenings.  In addition, we know that several members were taking pictures at the COA.  We would love to have you share them with us to post on the Department Gallery.  All you need to do is email them to us with a description and we will do the rest.

DEPARTMENT FOOD PANTRY

 The Department hosts the Mid-Mo Military Family Pantry at our Department Headquarters, 3401 Knipp Drive, Jefferson City, MO.  The Pantry is open on Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  However, if a veteran or his family is in immediate need, they can call the Department office at 573-636-8761 for assistance.  We will do accept cold food donations.

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.
