Some of our earliest ties to the community involve youth groups and perhaps none are stronger or more lasting than the relationship between the VFW and America's scouting organizations. In fact, our partnership with the Boy Scouts of America dates back to 1915 when VFW Post 2100 helped to establish Troop 1 in Everett, Washington. Our Scout of the Year program provides members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to be recognized for their standout citizenship, patriotism and love of country.
We have a fight on our hands in Missouri! This is the hearing at the Capitol in Jefferson City, it is long but very much need to hear. Our Veterans are being taken advantage of by unaccredited companies dealing with disability compensation, charging excessive fees to file claims. Veterans Guardians is at our capital speaking with our legislators trying to change our bill, HB 1490, to make it easier to profit off our Veterans! We need you to pack the Rotunda at the Capital on April 2nd 2024 at 1:30 pm
Randall Tolliver made a visit to Chris Dinkins, Majority Caucus Chair, State Representative District 144, to bring attention to important legislation for veterans.
“The deadline for filing a Lejeune lawsuit is August 10, 2024. BMBF Law is entrusted by the VFW and stands ready to assist. Do not delay, contact them today!”
Commander Charles Williams
After a successful CofA Conference in Columbia it is now time for us to look forward to the coming elections, increasing our membership and following up on reporting. As always increasing our membership is a primary goal. Each of us needs to try and add new members. The VFW is only as strong as its membership, it takes only one member to recruit one new member or reinstate to be 100%.
Our Dashboard is up and running, but there are several blocks of red that need attention. The requirements for a post to make All-State are very easy to achieve this year. I would like to see the posts put more effort into achieving All-State status. Committee chairperson please take time to review the reports that you are responsible for and get them approved or rejected as needed.
On a final note. Looking at the Dashboard under the insurance columns I see a large number of red outdated insurance policy's and red blocks with no dates at all. This is a mandatory requirement. It is imperative that you have current up to date insurance, both liability and DRAM insurance if you have a canteen. Please get that information to the department headquarters for it to be entered in the system.
Department of Missouri
Be sure to pass the word about this great opportunity.
If you know a Disabled Veteran who is interested in becoming a youth or High School Softball/Baseball umpire, or one that already is and would like to get better, please share this with them:
Registration for the 2024 Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy (WWUA) will open on February 1st, 2024, and the clinic will be held in Carlisle, PA June 7-17. There is no cost to the Veteran and all equipment needed to become a successful umpire will be provided for free. WWUA is a 10-day umpire training clinic taught by top MLB and NCAA umpires with years of experience at a high level. Also, MSHSAA waives registration fees for Veterans their first year under the "Trade your stripes” program: https://www.mshsaa.org/cmspages/Become-an-Official.aspx

The POW/MIA Chairman, Joe Cerchi, would like those posts whose Auxiliary goes "above and beyond" in their support of VFW POW/MIA Programs to send an email to him outlining what makes them special so that their efforts may be recognized.
A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher
Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam. He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years. He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country". The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

Our programs support our service members while they are on the front line, as they are being discharged and long after they return. Your tax-deductible donation will be immediately directed to the VFW programs where your support is most urgently needed.
